The Consumer Directed Services (CDS) Program is a program that allows an individual to direct his or her own personal care services at NO cost to the consumer/client. Consumer Directed Services is a MO Healthnet/Medicaid funded program which enables physically disabled individuals to continue to live independently within their own home with home care. For those who are able to self-direct their medical care, CDS may be the best option for you! CDS empowers the Consumer/Client to remain in control of their lives by giving them the freedom to choose their own caregiver. The caregiver may be a friend or family member, other than a spouse.
This freedom of choice gives individuals peace of mind knowing that their personal care assistance and assistance with activities of daily living are being done by someone that they know and trust.
Eligibility Requirements:
Aid and attendance is a tax-free benefit distributed to eligible honorably discharged veterans or their surviving spouses. Those approved for benefits will receive a monthly check as a reimbursement for the cost of acceptable medical expenses from Veterans Administration. Home care services are an acceptable medical expense.
